Absolute shame that such a great school has been let down by poor leadership and poor decision making, hopefully this doesn’t end up happening.

Successful brands do not change their names. Wear grammar status proudly and all it stands for - if it isn't working it needs something that requires a bit more leadership than a name change.

Proud AGS former pupil & Newport resident now a teacher myself and this name suggests the Head is more concerned about funding than the history of the school, despite the comments to the contrary in the press release.

The name change will destroy the history and good name of the school. It is a school which several generations of my family attended and I can think of no good reason why the name should ever be changed.

It is totally wrong to change the name without a full consultation of those with those connected with the school both past and present.

Hickey is such a self serving, egotistical headmaster. He is a piece of work, sad thing is not only do people hate him but people are quickly losing respect for him!

HAGS just doesn’t feel right. AGS was much better; easier to say, too.
