Out-of-State atheists have no right to tell our town how to live and JoAnne Gill does not get to make decisions for the entire city. To avoid a recall campaign of elected members of the city, we as citizens of Belle Plaine demand the city council return our cross to Veterans Park NOW and issue a formal apology to us, your fellow citizens.

The cross needs to come back. If you go to any of the military cemeteries, the Graves are marked with crosses with symbols for the persons religion inside the cross. The cross itseld represents the loss of a soldier, not just a Christian symbol.
We Stand United! We respect and honor our Veteran's. To remove the Cross from a piece of artwork made by Veteran who is no longer with us is uncalled for... Our community should have had a voice BEFORE the meaningful artwork was defaced.
I am not religious, but 1 person should not dictate policy. I feel the men and women who fought and died for this land, would be really mad we let this happen. Regardless of religion or lack there of one. The cross should be replaced immediately.
The people who demanded the cross be removed are absolute cowards, I'm a non religious person and i have no issues with people having other beliefs or public display thereof, buy what's worse are the townships that bend to the will of a few.
My brother, uncle, grandfather are veterans. They fought for us....our country...for YOU!!!! This is a marker for all those who have their lives! They are due this. Are they going to take it all away at Fort Smelling next?
Constitution does not say anything about governments cannot have religious symbols on their property. any religion has the right, Freedom from religion does not have any right to force God fearing men and women to give up their symbols, whatever they are.
Please put the cross back.

I do not live in Belle Plain, however, I am signing this petition to support the cross being put back. The person or persons with the complaint is NOW forcing their beliefs on us. This is about respect and honor for OUR veterans.
