After several months of not hearing the fire siren in the Town of Galena, it is time to have it brought back. There are several reasons that I have heard as to why it should be brought back, with one of them being that the people in the town knew when to look of for the fire equioment on the street once they heard it blow. This includes the children of the Town, which had been taught by their parents what the siren meant. Even with smart phones and pagers, some members of the fire and ems service still have no other way to know about an emergency other then when they hear the siren ringing. This is important....especially if it IS YOUR HOME ON FIRE or YOUR LOVED ONE THAT NEEDS MEDICAL HELP. There are options to please all individuals in the town. There are ways to have time constraints on the hours that the siren will blow and how many times it will blow. If you live in the Town of Galena or the area that is protected by the local fire department, please sign this petition to get the ball rolling to BRING BACK THE BLOWING OF THE FIRE SIREN in the Town of Galena.
