These kids are coming home with barely enough knowledge now. They are learning NOTHING. To cut their days is just ridiculous!

I'd you want to reduce the week, make sure you reduce the salaries. What about the extra costs for parents working, extra crime because the kids have another night out.

My two boys will be in kindergarten this year I don't see how they can learn everything they need to know in just 3 hours

This is hurting the students way of learning and letting kids think that school is a joke. And what about all the parents that can't be at home to watch his or her kids on that day off. What a joke.

The days need to go back to Monday -Friday bc no one can afford daycare n state don't like to help!

This will definitely NOT save any money!! You still have to run buses for the other schools!! And speaking of buses...take a look at that issue!! Including the special needs bus company!! I'm sure we're getting ripped off there!!!

I disagree with this idea to cut classes. By having children with less class time, we as a community are saying education is not important but us saving money is.

I believe that if even non property owning Hazleton Area people were expected to contribute to the expense of educating their children we might not have to resort to such desperate measures. Why should retired people be required to pay but people who rent are sending multiple children to school and not contributing one cent to the community. We can no longer sustain quality education when some just ride free.

Our children deserve more then this , they deserve a better , stronger, more enriching education. Raise taxes if you have to but do not cut education. Education is our children's future and they deserve a great one.

I know the teachers want to do their job and teach. My child needs all the education he deserves at this time in his life. He needs it to help him do well enough to get into a good college so he doesn't have to work 70hrs a week for pennies. Besides, this is not a good way to prepare these kids for the real world of working 5-6 days a week.

This is absolutely absurd! The curriculum is subpar as it is...they should be extending hours not cutting back. Budget problem cut admistrator pay! Why should the children and parents suffer? Does this mean school taxes will be lower now? Doubt it!

Doesn't matter if this is only for 8 weeks or 8 years, my son and most of his classmates struggle enough the way it is with their grades during a 5 day school week, and the district proved itself by its pssa scoring that it's definitely not a high soaring school district. Let's all think about how it was since time began, how did everyone else do it all these years? What are you doing wrong now that we can't continue tradition in education?!
Start denying students admittance for the school year and overcrowding schools and start making renters pay taxes as well!!

There is not enough information available to show there will be ANY savings to the District and there is NO indication that ANY of that savings will be directed back to the taxpayers!

With the higher standards placed on kindergarten prerequisites, I am baffled on how attending for three hours per day will focus on the need to continue their education as well as allow time for other activities including social play. I wonder if the school board thought to involve the kindergarten teachers on this decision - since they are the ones on the front line and we continually hear that the transition from kindergarten to 1st grade is rather significant. This is not only a disservice to the children and the teachers, but to the parents who have invested time and money in ensuring their children had an excellent preschool education in order to prepare them for kindergarten. I certainly cannot dictate where cuts need to be made, but I do know that as a school taxpayer, I would have hoped that our voices would be heard, instead of the select few that sit on a board.
