S.T.E.M. isn't the reason for their decisions. The "little" amount of students you are referring to worked hard to be accepted into the Academy. It's not "pass a multiple choice test and you're in" thing. There are students that are in college classes which the parents have to pay for, not the school district. Students take the PSSA's so that the school knows what kind of curriculum and to what level of comprehension each student has reached. Why should the students with higher scores have to sit in classes that have they have already exceeded in and vice versa -- you wouldn't want a student that doesn't understand a certain area and level of study to sit in a class and be expected to understand AND pass their classes.

Sacrificing kid's education. How sad.

I think we should return normal school days. In the end, I can only see this hurting the school.

Teach children, reduce pay, stop giving away food, stop throwing away food, buy more books, only offer English to non speaking English students, teach by the book not the pssa

Think about the education not about saving money.. I thought education was important .... guess not

My grandchildren deserve a full education schedule, that's why their parents pay taxes. I think its time to cut the wages of the crazy, half-minded administrators who are trying to steal the children's education.

They need to make this change it is unfair to the children of Hazelton

Maybe some of the administrators should be eliminated or take a big pay CUT rather than the kids giving up precious education time. The weird part is no one mentioned this budget deficit until we were millions of dollars in the hole. Tax families rather than the elderly homeowners.

Why should our kids suffer through the shortcomings of government issues.:?

Our children deserve a quality education and they should not be the ones to suffer over frivolous spending by the district!

Return to normal school days. Education is extremely important to these kids.

Parents pay school taxes and now, because of salaries and inappropriate spending you want us to have to pay for daycare, or worse leave our children unattended and at risk. You need to take into consideration how this affects PARENTS as well as the children.

I value my education and 4 day weeks are not benefiting anyone.

Kids need to learn. And taking a day way is actually bad the kids get 3 months as it is learning is starting to be an option rather then a need and in tired of it
