Lyft announced today, Monday, February 3, 2014 they have switched Long Beach over to the Orange County market.

There are several drivers that live in Long Beach that will not no longer be able to work in our own hometown and lose all the time we spent on growing the LB Lyft community to OC drivers. We cannot afford to switch to the OC market because they do not receive enough hours weekly and it is nearly impossible to slide-in. Lyft is the main source of income for many of us and we cannot survive in Orange County and do not wish to drive to LA proper every time we work.

Not only will this change affect drivers, but Long Beach residents will be very unhappy. As a native Long Beachian, I know for a fact that Long Beach residents despise being mistaken as part of Orange County and not Los Angeles. So much to the extent that most Long Beach residents will probably stop using the service once they know that they're part of the Orange County market.

We waited a long time to have Long Beach as a part of our community and now is being taken away, suddenly with no warning, after we built up this market. It is unjust to switch it to another market after it being decided 3 months ago that it was part of LA.

Please sign this petition to return Long Beach back to the Lyft LA market.

The momentum is incredible. It is clear that Long Beach refuses to be treated like an afterthought.

Switching LB to the OC territory might have sounded like a good business decision, but it's culturally insensitive - Long Beach is not part of Orange County even if the OC Weekly claims so! It was also mishandled, the communication to drivers was inadequate.

This is pretty upsetting considering how hard our community has worked to build LYft in Long Beach. I was ecstatic when I found out my hometown was a part of the LA coverage area because I don't always want to drive all the way out to LA. Long Beachians are not going to be happy when they are referred to as Orange County.

I support this petition because I have given a ride from Downtown LA to Long Beach and to know that I couldn't get a ride request after drop off would be disconcerting. I also support this on behalf of the drivers that live there.

I just wrote a huge thing on Facebook this morning regarding this issue. I feel like we the lb team are being punished.

Long beach market needs more time to expand and grow before being thrown into a market of drivers no where near there.

Lyft drivers shouldn't have any geographical boundaries when driving.
