The volume of support has reached a level where we are formalizing our outreach to the Attorney General office. We have begun drafting a letter to Director Shiomoto to confirm the legal basis for commercial plate enforcement.

It seems a no brainier that anyone driving passengers requires commercial plates.
Level the playing field already. Taxi drivers have to follow all the rules and pay for permits while these tech companies just get a free pass. Not fair.
ABOUT TIME the DMV stepped up and did what they are supposed to do. Tired of seeing these rideshare cars clogging up the streets without proper insurance.
Uber is basically a taxi service so why arent they held to the same standards?? commercial plates are the bare minimum for safety.
This is necessary to protect the public from unqualified, uninsured and underinsured drivers.
I hate uber,left, side car fuck all
Yes need a commercial number plate and millions $ insurance

i think, you should either enforce the law or not enforce the law! You can't do it partially or electively. After all the law is same for everyone.
