With a lot of clubs now set to reopen their doors on July 25th with increased safety measures and reduced timetables, PureGym, the largest gym chain in the UK, has decided it will no longer be using freelance instructors at its clubs - including their flagship club London Aldgate.

As freelance instructors at PureGym Aldgate we have dedicated the last few years in driving member engagement, following and footfall in classes such as BodyPump, BodyAttack, BodyBalance, RPM & Sprint. In fact many members at PureGym Aldgate would attend the gym purely to attend these classes to follow their favourite classes and instructors. As instructors we have also accepted below market rate salaries from PureGym, because of the passion we have for what we do and appreciation of the PureGym members attending our classes.

We do however appreciate that Covid-19 has impacted many businesses, and especially leisure and fitness facilities who have had to remain closed for a number of months during lockdown with no revenue. So, although we understand cuts have to be made in this new world, we feel that part of the bounce back strategy by PureGym is short-sighted and is not customer focused. Members have not been surveyed by PureGym on what is important to them when coming back to the gym, they have just literally pulled the plug to save money.

Many loyal and long-standing class participants have suggested to us they are unlikely to return to the club if the previous classes and instructors are not on the timetable - that was the reason they paid for membership!

As instructors passionately dedicated to our classes and participants, we want to make a stand and request that PureGym Aldgate reinstates our classes. We appreciate this may not be possible for all classes, but surely the ones with the highest footfall.

We therefore ask you to help us be heard and sign this petition. Show you have as much love for the classes you take part in, as we have in teaching them to you. Forward the petition link onto anyone you know who has ever participated in one of our classes at PureGym Aldgate and doesn't want to lose us.
