The most influential effort in the history of the United States of America to reconcile the genocidal behavior and treatment of this land's Indiginous peoples by the European explorers and settlers, is being led by Thomas Ivan Dahlheimer, a white man who is receiving support and assistance from world renowned Indigenous activists. Countless sacred sites and place names were "changed" by the European explorers and settlers upon arrival, without ascertaining any infomation from the local Native inhabitants. Specifically, Dahlheimer's movement is in the process of restoring the sacred Dakota/Native name [Wakan] to an American river, a.k.a Rum River.

The aim of this movement is to restore the sacred Dakota name to an American river that now has a faulty-English-translation name. And because this river is a sacred Dakota place, this movement is also a movement to restore a Native name to a sacred place. It is a part of the movement to restore Native names to all sacred sites. The Dakota name for the "Rum River" is Wakpa Wakan. It translates into English as Spirit River. This movement's web site is located at www.towahkon.org

We the undersigned, support the restoration of the Native American name, Wakan, to the river what is now currently referred to as, Rum River.
