The Mckee house needs to be used as a learning center for nature like Fullersberg. It's a shame to to pay the huge amount of demolition costs when it could go toward making this something we could be proud of, not sorry for.

We need to save this building because it represents our past and gives us a sense of place. It's history can teach us valuable lessons about conservation which we can draw upon in the future. We need to preserve the building and it will take on a new life connecting people to each other and to nature.

Given the mission of the DuPage County Forest Preserve, it would be negligent to NOT restore the McKee House: "The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is a nationally recognized conservation agency that envisions a community in which all citizens share a connection with nature and an appreciation for cultural history. " Historically, the building was built as a WPA project in the 30s and it was the home of the first DuPage County Forest Preserve Superintendent Robert McKee........ symbolizing our countries efforts to recover from the Depression by employing those who wanted to work and support their families while improving our parks and the arts. By housing our first Preserve Superintendent it symbolizes the beginning of our efforts to support open space and encourage DuPage County residents to enjoy the beauty of our surroundings. I love our Forest Preserve, but would consider it negligent and mismanaged if it cannot maintain it's own history. Preservation of the McKee House and it's outbuildings is incredibly important to the mission and history of the DuPage County Forest Preserve. It is symbolic to the open space initiative of the likes of Teddy Roosevelt and the early administrators of our Preservation efforts.

My family is from the area and sadly to many historic buildings are seen as no longer important or to costly to restore. Please preserve this building for future generations.

While tax dollars are poured into other projects, the preservation of this historic home is located is too expensive? NO this is a false argument and shows how limited the thinking of the current Board truly is. SAVE OUR HISTORY.
