Restore the McKee House

I used to live in one of those homes. Charming, quirky architecture as it was a combination of the workshop, garage and outbuildings.

This is an historic treasure. It should not be a tear down. It should be saved.

This house is very important to the family. Mckee family were relatives of my husband family.

This building could be used as a stop for bikers from the region. It could bring people to Glen Ellyn and the downtown shops and restaurants. TIF funding might help.

Please save this for our future descendants! Thank you for listening!

Any project assembled by the sweat and talents of locals with the intent of bettering the community above simply generating revenue out to be fiercely defended and viewed as a project with no end date. The WPA projects categorically pursued these values.

Save the house.

Keep the charm in our small town Please don't tear down!

The Board of Commissioners are well aware of the significance of this building in the history of the area. Please look for creative ways to preserve this history. Thank you.

History should not be bulldozed.

I'm a licensed builder, licensed building inspector and certified lead testing inspector with many years experience in historic restoration and adaptive reuse in Detroit and SE Michigan. I've seen too many good buildings go down because of greed, ignorance and lack of will.

A treasure should be saved

We moved to Glen Ellyn in 1993 and unfortunately witnessed the loss of the Maryknoll Seminary. I can still remember how beautifully picturesque the gateway into Glen Ellyn driving west on Roosevelt Rd. used to be. It really is too bad they couldn't work to restore that iconic landmark. I am glad the village repurposed the old Duane Street Junior High School to be used as our current Civic Center. Reuse, recycle, repurpose, please!!!

Preserving the history of DuPage County is essential. The McKee House, it's restoration and adaptive reuse must be taken on by the Forest Preserve Board. Taxpayers deserve a commitment to the McKee House.

I've viewed this house for 68 years and it still has things to say to future generations

Please restore this historic house. If we don preserve the past we can never CORRECTLY move forward

Preserving historical structures that would foster creative and educational purposes for all ages is a responsibility not a choice. I would hope that Hawley Silk Mill in Pennsylvania is a perfect example of private investment capitalizing on preservation.

This is part of DuPage County history just as much as St James Farm, Klein Creek, Mayslake and deserves same consideration

This building is a cultural treasure and the cost of demolition is greater than monetary cost. I am sure a fund raiser could provide for restoration, and perhaps volunteers could assist like Habitat for Humanity.

I cannot attend the meeting on Aug 18 but please let me know about further meetings.
