The restrictions have been lifted and we finally have our beach access back. I am honestly stunned by this outcome and know it only happened because of the time you all invested in this cause. Let's keep our eyes on the shoreline to make sure things stay this way.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has signed the petition thus far and let you all know that I have emailed and mailed a hard copy of my letter and all of the signatures/comments on the petition to Brian Carlstrom. I will be sure to provide another update if/when I receive a response.
This petition is for anyone who is tired of the Cape Cod National Seashore ORV being closed due to the nesting shorebirds or other circumstances. The fact is that the birds' population has been steadily increasing yet the closures have been increasing in duration as well. For some reason the NPS doesn't want us out there anymore and they're using the birds as an excuse. It is our right to enjoy our National Parks and they appear to be slowly taking a portion of that away. There are other ORVs on Cape Cod who have altered their ORV access policies to continue protecting the birds while still allowing vehicles on the beach. It's time for the National Seashore to follow suit and allow ORV access again so we all can continue to make great memories with our families on those beautiful beaches for many more years to come. This petition will first be sent to Mr. Brian Carlstrom, Superintendent of the Cape Cod National Seashore. If it falls on deaf ears, it will go directly to the Secretary of the Dept of the Interior, Mr. David Bernhardt, who is in charge of all National Parks. Let's make some noise!

Very glad to see action by the people happening. Have enjoyed going OVR for decades. Last few years a huge disappointment! I don't go to Race Point and PTown just to eat and drink. This year couldn't even do that. So why go to NPA. Considering other vacation options. Cape loses all around.
Brewster resident and I have been frustrated last few years with access. I am also for conservation but places like Orleans are only closed for a short time. Why can't the national seashore figure it out.
I was almost born out on Race Point, now I would love to be able to pass all the Cape Cod National Seashore has to offer to my on children. There’s got to be a way to protect the birds and let us out there!
There is “Flexible Management of the ORV corridor” included in the latest environmental assessment (EA) it’s time to at least try some of the tools being successfully used on other beaches. The current bird populations are very strong, it’s time to balance things out.
Transparency of the ongoing closures, reasons, locations and nests of the birds, as well as improving communication and cooperation with ORV and SCV road users is necessary. In compact we did not sign away our rights to access!
End the Madness
I'm all for preservation--and i'm all for recreation with respect to the preservation--but a "season" pass for $250. and just a few weeks of accessibility in the Fall season seems like robbery--Beach minded campers who obey the rules of preservation should be told the truth---are we a breed no longer desired? are we only good for our money when we are sold a falsely advertised "pass"--why not just say you are only looking for donations from people who DREAM of camping on the beach like they have before?

My family has been over sand recreating on cape cod national sea shore since 1970 s , before the National Park Service took over. We have always okayed all rules. There has been a silent effort I have noticed to keep over sand travel off the beaches using the birds as an excuse. It has to stop.
