This PETITION supports the Department of Energy selection of the State of Missouri to receive investment funding for manufacturing, construction, installation and operation of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) nuclear technology.

We believe this is a critical economic prospect for the State of Missouri, and furthermore, that Missouri is uniquely suited to operate a project of this magnitude. Missouri’s central geographic location, access to multi-modal transportation, and well-trained work force – particularly those of the Callaway nuclear plant, one of the top in the nation – are just a few factors that give Missouri a competitive edge.

Bringing the SMR marketplace to Missouri would increase access to nuclear power as well as bring significant economic investment to our state. This opportunity holds great promise for much-needed jobs for Missourians. If awarded to Missouri, the project could bring a component manufacturing center, engineering and design center and training center to the state. These centers would bring the promise of jobs, infrastructure and affordable, reliable energy, as well as position Missouri as a world leader in exporting energy technology and manufacturing.

The potential economic impact on Missouri is critical to the future of this state. It our hope that the U.S. Department of Energy takes note of Missouri's many advantages and awards this investment funding.
