As his disgraceful rally in Greenville made clear for all to see, President Trump’s re-election strategy centers on stoking hatred, resentment, fear, and division. For his personal political benefit, he is determined to stir-up his most ardent supporters in a way that will invariably lead to violence and destruction in our city. All we have to do is look to Charlottesville to see how a community can be irreparably scared by the consequences of this vile approach to democracy. Do we really want this for Charlotte? Do we really want our city to also be forever stained by such ugliness? The answer is NO!

Before it is too late, the people of Charlotte must take a stand and tell the Republican National Convention it is not welcome here with its exclusionary and inflammatory rhetoric. Please sign the petition to demand that the Charlotte City Council rescind its invitation to the Republican National Committee for the 2020 Republican National Convention and, by doing, send a message to the world that our’s is a city of inclusion and equal dignity for all!

The scale of this response confirms that our city rejects the harmful rhetoric coming our way. Call your City Council representative today and tell them that we expect them to prioritize our safety over this convention.

Don't just consider the influx of money coming into the area due to the convention but more impotantly the damage to Charlotte's reputation and the accomanying violence that will surely come as well.

Charlotte and North Carolina are too good to play host to the racist show that will be the RNC. Everyone remembers Chicago in 1968. Will Charlotte 2020 be remembered as well?

This convention and its ensuing rhetoric will endanger the lives of both Charlotte and North Carolina’s immigrant communities, refugee communities, communities of color, etc. We owe it to those communities, our neighbors, to reject the kind of vile racism, xenophobia, etc. that this convention and its attendees will perpetuate.

Charlotte's population is about 55% non-white, meaning the President and his acolytes have attacked the majority of the City's people over the last few years. Bringing the RNC 2020 there is a slap in the face to those citizens, and they won't take it lightly. It was a bad idea before, but after Greenville, it's literally insane to do it.

It was a mistake when they offered to host the RNC. It is a bigger mistake now to continue to host what is going to be a week long white supremacist rally. It is not safe for our citizens. End this now

The current Republican Party is not a representation of Charlottes conservative values and does not deserve our hospitality.

Trump is a World Security Threat and is attempting to become more of a Dictator than a President. Trump needs to GO!
