We don't need the Trump and GOP hate in Charlotte. North Carolina has already been tarnished by the rally in Greenville. Let them know that American will not tolerate hate, racism and the corrupt President and GOP. We are better than that.

Don't just consider the influx of money coming into the area due to the convention but more impotantly the damage to Charlotte's reputation and the accomanying violence that will surely come as well.

This will be a Klan rally in Republican clothing. Charlotte is better than that.

I thought about the convention as soon as I heard about what happened in Greenville. NC does not need this kind of hatred. I support this petition and think it is the best interest of Charlotte and NC to back out of the RNC convention.

Do not promote in any way this lying, traitorous, racist, sexist, sleazebag. Or Charlotte will be the next headline after Greenville. As a North Carolinian, I reject the party of racism in our state (or anywhere).

Charlotte and North Carolina are too good to play host to the racist show that will be the RNC. Everyone remembers Chicago in 1968. Will Charlotte 2020 be remembered as well?

This convention and its ensuing rhetoric will endanger the lives of both Charlotte and North Carolina’s immigrant communities, refugee communities, communities of color, etc. We owe it to those communities, our neighbors, to reject the kind of vile racism, xenophobia, etc. that this convention and its attendees will perpetuate.

The Republican party is gone, never to return. What has taken its place is neither conservative nor republican, but a racist, fascist and oligarchical mob.

Charlotte does not need the hate and violence this event will bring. We should never have allowed it to begin with.

Charlotte's population is about 55% non-white, meaning the President and his acolytes have attacked the majority of the City's people over the last few years. Bringing the RNC 2020 there is a slap in the face to those citizens, and they won't take it lightly. It was a bad idea before, but after Greenville, it's literally insane to do it.

The RNC will bring the worst of the worst and it is known that there will be protests so people will be expecting violence to break out. As they say if you look for darkness it's all you will find, the same with violence.
