Require Transparency & Solutions for King County's Homeless Epidemic

We need solutions, not inaccurate and biased information.

If you put out bird food, you get birds. Stop incentivizing homelessness. Boundaries must be established for civil behavior.

All very commendable. Some of this has been advocated for already during the past 11 years of CEHKC/All Home. If it doesn't come from an outside "expert" though, they fight it or ignore it, especially if it comes from someone not one of "them", perhaps from someone who has actually experienced homelessness and has seen the incompetence, at all levels, of those who are supposed to be "helping"! Unfortunately, the providers fight having funding tied to efficacy, everyone prefers discussing and "studying the problem" over taking action, and no competent "systems" people or ideas are being used. Look into the money paid "consultants" since '05, some of whom had no experience in the area, while the CEHKC ignored talent, experience, and expertise within it's ranks...techies and smart iconoclasts who have excellent ideas and have experienced homelessness so they know & are willing to say what's wrong with the system. (Including revealing that many staff & Execs are as dysfunctional as the clients!) For some of the data you seek, look at reports produced for the Data & Evaluation Committee of All Home. Final comment: Take a look at how Coordinated Entry is being implemented--if a homeless person is evaluated to be less vulnerable (by whatever mysterious standards they are using in the VI-SPDAT tool), they will NOT be "prioritized" and will actually receive NO help getting into housing! Ask whether being an elderly &/or frail woman is considered "vulnerable" by the evaluation tool (unless she is a drug addict or completely wacko). We leave grandma to sleep on the floor of churches at night and wander the streets all day. Shame on Seattle. Meanwhile, deranged individuals are allowed into public housing, endangering those residents, while competent disabled and seniors are stuck in demeaning and dangerous "supportive housing". And someone needs to ask why (and how) so many lower middle-class immigrant families and seniors seem to get HUD-subsidized housin

We are serving addicts and poverty pimps, while those truly in need go without.

Why is Seattle ignoring expert opinions (paid for by the City). Why are ineffective programs allowed to continue? Other cities have more success than we do in lowering the numbers of unsheltered individuals; why can we not learn from them?. It is inhumane to allow those who need mental health or addiction treatment to live unsheltered as they are now. Is it a result of "Seattle Niceness"? The only way to be truly nice, show compassion, and to really love is to exercise TOUGH LOVE. We need to look at this, not in the moment, but for the long haul. COME ON SEATTLE show true love.

I about cry every night as I drive home from taking care of my mom in Upscale Gentrified Ballard, I round the corner on Leary and wait at the light under the Ballard Bridge and am sickened by what is passing for addressing our Homeless Population. Telling these people to pitch tents is not an answer. Not providing basic human resources (Bathrooms, SHowers) at these Camp Sites in my book is cruel and inexcusable.

Seattle is a truly disgusting place.

We need transparency if we are asked to support programs.

I would like to see transparency of the situation and the solutions/ proposals and for this to be treated as a community project including the community in the decision making process.

Something needs to change. The city is going in the wrong direction. New leadership might be needed at many levels of the administration.

There is an illegal camp close by central Fremont-fremont troll-and another one on Burke Gilman NW 39th Fremont Canal. I saw a new tent underneath Fremont bridge just a few days ago. I do not want to connect it to the homelessness directly, but there are a lot of mentally ill wandering the streets to a degree I had never seen in my 15+ of years of living here. These people need professional help. You cannot just let them out on the streets. It is not safe for anyone. I want to know how much of these millions of dollars are being used to treat mentally ill since things are getting worse day by day.

I want to help these people by really addressing the problem and not just moving them from one place to the next.

I feel the city does not give us the information we need as citizens.

I'm not voting for a housing program again unless the city starts providing accurate information and transparency.
