Request for In-Person Re-Entry Workshop and Graduation Ceremony
We, the 2023- 2024 Thomas Jefferson Scholars, write to express our collective desire for our upcoming re-entry workshop and graduation ceremony to be conducted in person, rather than online. We understand the challenges posed by the current global situation, and we appreciate the efforts made to ensure the continuity of our program.
However, we respectfully request reconsideration of the decision to transition these events to an online format, particularly in light of the significant impact it would have on our overall experience. As enthusiastic participants of this esteemed exchange program, we believe that an in-person gathering is essential for fostering meaningful connections, providing closure, and preserving the traditions upheld by previous generations of scholars.
Furthermore, we understand that budgetary considerations may have influenced the decision to opt for an online format. However, we would like to highlight that the benefits of an in-person event far outweigh the associated costs. The opportunity to reunite with our fellow scholars, mentors, and program coordinators in a physical setting is invaluable and contributes significantly to the overall success and satisfaction of the program.
Additionally, we wish to emphasize that our previous experience with an online mid-program workshop was less than ideal. While we acknowledge the efforts made to facilitate virtual interactions, the lack of personal engagement, spontaneity, and shared experiences detracted from the overall impact of the event. As such, we firmly believe that an in-person approach is essential for capturing the essence of our collective journey and ensuring a truly enriching and memorable experience for all participants.
In conclusion, we urge you to prioritize our well-being and satisfaction by offering us the opportunity to participate in the re-entry workshop and graduation ceremony in person. By doing so, you will not only honor the traditions and values upheld by previous generations of scholars but also reaffirm your commitment to providing us with the best possible experience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We eagerly await your response and remain hopeful for a favorable outcome.
Sincerely,
