Request For Cancelation of MYP E assesment in Gulf Countries for MAY 2026

As someone who has family in Beirut, Lebanon. They are in a area that is HIGHLY risky. Me and my whole family in Dubai are in alert for them. Most of MYP students have families in the middle east that are going through problems. Just because the missiles stopped in gulf countries doesnt mean that we can still go despite everything we faced this past 2 months, and with the risk of our famillies outside of dubai. These need to be cancelled.

We strongly request the cancellation of MYP eAssessments. Due to ongoing disruptions, safety concerns, and limited preparation time from extended online learning, these exams are not fair or reliable. Many students have not completed the full syllabus or practical work, putting us at a clear disadvantage compared to others globally. We ask IB to prioritise student safety and fairness and reconsider holding these exams.

MYP eAssessment should be canceled in the Gulf region. Although there is currently a ceasefire, the future security situation remains unpredictable. No one knows when the conflict will truly end, or it could resume at any time. Student safety must come first. Many students have already left the country for safety and would find it extremely difficult to return for exams. Online learning has been inefficient, and because students cannot perform practical experiments online, they have difficulty understanding the theory. Constant worry has made it challenging to focus on studying and revision, causing great stress and anxiety. Meanwhile, IB DP/CP, IGCSE, and A-level exams in the same region have already been cancelled. It would be deeply unfair if students in the same unsafe learning environment had to take exams. We strongly believe that education should focus on students' growth, health, and development, not put students under unnecessary pressure during such an uncertain time.

While we understand that the Diploma Programme (DP) transitioned to the Non-Exam Contingency Measure (NECM) on March 30, we are deeply unsettled by the lack of a formal announcement for the MYP cohort. Given that the Ministry of Education has extended distance learning until April 17 at a minimum due to the regional situation, we believe that proceeding with eAssessments is no longer a viable or fair option for the following reasons: Physical Security and exam logistics → Exam halls with crowds of students pose a big security threat during such times when there is regional tension. As most of our exam halls are either closed or basement halls, an evacuation midway through an examination paper is almost impossible without posing risks to students' safety and ensuring the validity of results. While IB has assessed the conditions as being unfit for DP students, we should not be subjected to sitting in the very same hall that was unsafe for other older students. It is ethically wrong to put us to a different test. Disruption to Learning Schedule → There will be only ten school days from the last day of our distance learning until the first exam of the IB on May 4th. This leaves us at a severe disadvantage when compared to our peers across the globe who have learned in stable environments. Unfortunately, we have already missed out on a crucial phase of our learning due to the online learning measures in place. To further elaborate, hands-on learning, including practical experiments, has therefore not been conducted, hindering our learning experience and preparation for the assessments. In fact, we are yet to complete the syllabus for some subjects, putting us at a significant disadvantage. While we understand that the situation calls for this, up to 5 weeks of distance learning has not been a feasible environment for revision, especially as e-Assessments are so fast approaching. please cancel this exam due to the raging conflict in the United Arab Emirates as well as all the other nations in the GCC

It’s been more than 10 days, everyone is stressing and creating scenarios in our head about whether the exam is happening. We are all behind on work and missed too much school and still did not finish the full course due to the 2 months of online we have been having!

MYP exams should be canceled because they create overwhelming pressure and stress for students at a time when learning should be supportive, not harmful. Many students already deal with heavy workloads, extracurricular activities, and personal challenges, and high-stakes exams only add to this burden. Instead of truly measuring understanding, these exams often test how well students can handle stress or memorize information in a short period. This can negatively affect mental health, leading to anxiety, burnout, and a loss of motivation for learning. Education should focus on growth, skills, and well-being, and canceling MYP exams would allow for more balanced and meaningful ways to assess students without causing unnecessary stress.

theres genuinely no way they can put our exams on still, we havent learnt anything in the past month and physically if u put us in the exams when theres literal missiles or UAVS flying over us isnt that the chance of students getting injured if debree falls onto the school? holy logic!!

The e-assesements should be cancelled. It is unfair how DP and CP students that are 18 won't sit in the exam hall, while 15 and 16 year olds will have to sit in the exam hall despite all the stress faced in late feb untill now.

They cancelled DP and CP while I was suffering mentally. No way I'll be able to revise. My whole family is in Lebanon suffering while I am here with my parents.

We really should not be doing tests in a situation and pressure like this

They should cancel the MYP E-Assessments because the conflict is not over yet, and we are still going through online learning. Also, students are not in the right mood and mindset to be studying for exams now with the worrying scenes happening in the region.
