Report card writing is part of the job requirements under the Education Act, it is not supposed to be a work to rule withdrawal item. Shame on you for taking it out on the kids.

Our children have worked hard all year and need the cumulated assessments in final grades. This will also help parents in supporting their children over the summer. Teachers have worked hard all year to assess students, and to not share the results is beyond disappointing. Report card grades are critical for the student record - if this is not essential then what in the education system is. There has to be a way of getting the final grades. I am very disappointed in all parties involved.
Where are the negotiations of this labour dispute at? If there are no negotiations happening then why not? Having no sense of urgency (full pay, etc) to resolve this labour dispute when teachers are heading into two months of vacation is awful. Without a cut in pay there is no sense of urgency to settle. How can full pay be received when an essential part of the job is not done? I'm even more upset thinking about the Fall unless this gets resolved ASAP. There needs to be a sense of urgency. Public opinion of teachers and the government is low right now. To the union - how can you not get back to the negotiating table asap? Public opinion is not on your side....especially in Waterloo where you are not giving final grades.

Many other boards have found a way to release the grades. WRDSB should do the same. The kids have earned their marks.

Though I do not have a child in an elementary WRDSB school, this is the board my tax dollars support. Children need their marks so that parents can know what areas they need to work on through the summer. This is unacceptable, WRDSB. Unacceptable.

I believe it is time to pressure the school board for what parents feel is important to their child's education. Call your local trustee. They voted for it. Even if you didn't vote for them. Their phone numbers are on line, their emails are on line on the board web site. I know from experience that a call, fax or personal email to the superintendent is also warranted. The petition is only a small part of pressuring the powers who make these decisions. Children worked and should receive an acknowledgement for their efforts. Parents of special needs need this information to plan for the summer. Insurance lawyers will look for it if a child is injured. Parents will only get things if they stand up for it. Toronto did it. Time to stand up and ask for the report card. The marks are there. If it is too much work, then a parent should be able to request the marks and fill in the boxes themselves. This is a response I received from my email to the trustees. . "The Minister of Education has indicated to school boards that the issuance of report cards is a local Board of Trustees decision. Every school board has to consider a variety of factors that are board-specific in making such a critical decision.
Since there are different pressures on each board, there are different results. The decision in WRDSB was made in consideration of the factors impacting the local situation. "
I wonder if parents as stake holders had any input into the decision. Lynda simple comment on a fax or email to me says it all. If the board got a 1000 they would take notice.

I don't find that the report cards are helpful - they are not specific enough. But I think something is better than nothing. A placement letter is pointless since they don't fail/hold children back anymore.

I understand their position bit as a mom with two boys with higher needs these comments and reports are needed to be handed into drs to ensure we are on the right path

if all of the other school boards are doing their best to provide marks even if it means waiting a month to get them, WRDSB should too!!!!

Our children work so hard all year and most really look forward to these report cards to see how all their hard work has paid off and where they must improve for the next school year. This is directly Impacting our children in a negative way. Why should our children have to suffer for your choices. Please we urge you to think about the children whom this impacts. Give the children what they have worked so hard for.

For my daughter whois graduating this year to middle school I think it is important for her and also is important for me to have that final record of I her progress and accomplishment's
