I just want my child to get the report card as she deserves to- whether progress is communicated throughout the year or not is irrelevant- children look forward to that right of passage and quantifiable record of their work. Regardless of what strike action is occurring it is a necessity that this important step is done- the teachers have already compiled the marks and its up to the administration to see it's done even if it means doing and abbreviated record and hiring temps to come in and do the entry!

My children worked extremely hard to excel at school this year, without the report card, how can they assess the result of their efforts? This is unacceptable, the decision must be reconsidered!

I feel it is a necessity to get a full report on how our children are doing with their studies. I also feel that the union is using this tactic to get more money. This is not the way to do it. It is only hurting the children at the end of the day!

school is about the students - not the staff. Get past this, get to work & give the kids & parents what they've earned - their marks!

If the marks are done and on paper why can they just photo copy that and send it home? Who needs a fancy print out. At lest it is something.

Well my private tutor isn't happy about this. We have worked very hard with my daughter to improve her math.... Now we have no way of knowing. .....so very frustrating.

It will take less time to type in a grade than it will to proofread the entire report card. You've known since May 11. There was lots of time!!!

if other boards can manage it so can ours. My daughter in grade 8 is devastated not to get her marks. I could handle the lack of comments but put full blame on the board for not completing the basic reports. As a psychologist who does psychoeducational assessments I am mortified the board took the easy way out and tried to blame teachers.

We pay for our sons to be tutored. How can they get help over the summer if they don't know where they need improvements. Please don't make the kids suffer for all the hard work or lack of work done. Let the parents deal with their grades so the teachers don't have to.

In the world of manufacturing - the recommendation is to give timely specific feedback in order to ensure good behaviour continues and unsatisfactory behaviour is corrected. With holding grades from students does not allow them to know where they need to focus and where they have mastered.
The grades we are told are there, the teachers have done the work - don't penalize the children and the parents by withholding grades. Communicate the grades openly and honestly for the betterment of the children.

Teachers have the best job situation here in Canada. Great pay. Summers off. Christmas off. March break off. I am exhausted by their constant complaints. Maybe if our kids actually learned anything I would support them. I have to teach my kids their times tables and 2 of my 3 kids have never even done a book report. It is sickening. If my husband and I didn't have to work so much I would home school. The academic standard is low at best unless you are a French immersion student. Our public school system needs serious changes.
