Report cards are a student's right. A report card is a child's equivalent to an adult's paycheque.

I am sick and tired of teachers stricking every year. It's our kids that pay the price. They aren't pawns. Do your job and do the full report cards.

Just want to clarify...teachers have not had a raise in several years and do not get a 3% raise each year. I fact, they took a forced pay cut last year which was largely hidden from the public. And yes there is 2 months off in the summer, but teachers are not paid during this time.

The board could hired some one or have the office staff in the school or the principals imput the marks. It does not take long. I am a former teacher and it does not take more than 20 minutes to put marks only in. Both good and weaker students need to know how they did in order to prepare for next year. If the TDSB and Upper Grand can prepare report cards so can you. This board used to be a very respected Board .

My kids have really enjoyed their time in their schools over the years and have great relationships with the teachers. I realize that there are issues at hand on both sides...but don't tell me that you are doing it for my kids and for a better system then use the kids as leverage (no report cards, no field trips...)!!!
The system is flawed...the material being taught (and not) is questionable and families (many of whom make less than the teachers or politicians) are now expected to fork over more money every year to compensate for budget shortfalls.
We try to teach our kids to be fair, play nice and share...the government and the unions need to follow the same rules.

think about the children. Especially the ones that need the help so that the parents know what subject they can help them with during the summer months.

Our children are repeatedly being placed in the middle of a conflict that is not theirs. I think it's time that the government consider teachers to be a vital service and deny them the right to strike. Other services (police, health) manage to come to contractual agreements without striking so let's start thinking of the children...after all....they are our future.

Voters in Cambridge should remember too that Cindy Watson has declared a conflict on the issue of report cards as her son is a teacher with WRDSB... makes you wonder how effective and unbiased she can be. Also, Trustee Colin Harrington is a retired high school teacher. Are these Trustees really representing students and parents at Board meetings? Remember this next election.

The summary of marks is NOT going to be placed in the OSR, just the "placement letter". See the news release from WRDSB today. AND they are only doing a summary of marks "where a teacher has provided suitable information." This is not acceptable. Teachers are paid good money to monitor students' progress and it takes the form of a grade/mark. They should be obligated to provide marks and comments on report cards.
