It is absolutely ridiculous that the Battell South back door has not yet been fixed to open with student ID cards. As a resident of the South wing of Battell, I believe that this issue - which has been ongoing for more than two years - should finally be resolved. The correct administration should be held accountable for allocating funds for public Middlebury projects, especially for the dorm that houses one third of all first-years. FYC's, FRC's, maintenance staff, and higher administration have all been contacted incessantly, and no change has come to the door.
By signing this petition, we believe that the door used by so many first-years multiple times a day should be COMPLETELY REPLACED in order to work seamlessly. We believe that a working door will improve everyday life significantly and is a perfect use of school funding for the common good.
