After the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, it is now time to keep our children safe by eliminating the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. Criminals can and have ignored these zones, but the law-abiding citizens that teach or work at our schools can not. Our teachers should have the right to protect themselves and their students if they what the choice to arm themselves for self-defense and the defense of the children. Our schools need to be a safe place for our children to learn as well as our teachers to teach. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families and friends of the victims in that tragedy.
