Residents of Union County parks are petitioning for the repair of the vacant pavilion in Echo Lake park located approximately 400 meters west of Springfield Avenue, Mountainside, NJ.

The public now requests to have this space put to better use and accessible for organized events such as book readings, children's events, Girl Scout cookie sales, art exhibits, guest speakers, receptions etc. We have seen, for over 20 years, this exceptional historic building unnecessarily used as storage. It is time to better utilize our county park's unique property.

The momentum is undeniable now. Twenty years of silence is coming to an end.

The architecture is lovely. Older buildings should be restored as they add character and antiquity to our neighborhoods.

I grew up in Mountainside & have great memories of art shows & happy gatherings amidst the unique beauty of our pavillion. It is sad to now see it as a run down storage facility with cemented windows, crumbling stairs & a broken weathervane. The old, magnificent sun dial is also broken. It would be a great gift to see this historic site returned to life!

For a park to have an enclosure such as this with large, open floor space, modern electric wiring, and restroom facilities and not use it is tragic!

It is indeed a missed opportunity. Let's change that and bring life to the empty space.
