It seems to me that when I grew up in Alderney back in the 50s and 60s we had the best of transport connections. I remember using Aurigny planes almost as a taxi service to and from England and Jersey not to mention as a child flying to Dinard as part of our trip to visit Mums family in Switzerland. This wouldn’t have been possible with out well maintained Airport Runways and of course the harbour. (Remember the Island Commodore and Commodore Queen. We had the best of all possible worlds. Bring back that quality of connection between Alderney and the outside world!

Not only is the airport essential to the island residents’ welfare and island sustainability, it ensures the island’s heritage and rich war history is remembered.

The repair to the runway is vital to keep the island running, bring visitors and help with medical evacuations. It needs to be extended and repaired so they can use better planes than the dorniers.
