This is long overdue. It was something that could have been approved years ago the runway was never going to repair itself and now will not be good enough for lighter aircraft in the future.

We have an interest as we have friends who own a property on the island which we have visited.

Fix things properly as and when then need to be fixed, i.e years ago, Alderney does not need a complete new airport from day one as much as that would be welcome. Any danger of any fuel soon now there is the foam to put a fire out if it ever happened?

The airport is our life line. Medical appointments, hospital stays & day appointments, further education, schooling, sports, dentist, opticians, counselling, etc etc etc! The list is long!

2023 Accounts show States of Guernsey revenue and expenses at £874m and £864m. That is more than 2.3 million pounds per day, of public money. This requires responsible management on behalf of the community. Continually postponing essential maintenance is both foolish and expensive. The public needs competence, not petulance. The Airport requires urgent action now.

I fail to understand as to how the States of Guernsey are not obliged to resurface the runway at a specified time interval. Having been in ATC for 38 years, we were regularly subjected to runway resurfacing. Anyway, I have first hand experience of Alderney’s runway & it demands resurfacing.

It's Alderney's lifeline and if nothing is done now, then it stays dangerous and the island will be cut off!
