The administration has confirmed that campus will reopen as planned this coming week. It is a relief to see our primary goal realized so that academic progress can finally resume. Let us remain observant to ensure the transition back to our studies is handled with the care our community deserves.

Hi everyone,

I'm sure you've all seen Dr Price's message about reopening campus next week. I agree that there are problems in the system and that something must be done but this is not something that is going to be solved overnight or in a few weeks. Thus continuing the shutdown will cause much more harm than good. If you agree with me and want to go back to varsity on Monday please share and sign this petition to show your support.

If class is to reopen, we should get a statement from management with some sort of contingency plan with regard to the demands. We cannot sweep the problems under the rug because they will just pile up and resurface every year. UCT management and the protesters need to come to a compromise and work together towards reaching the demands.

I can't afford to extend my degree. My family is not going to live forever and they need me to be working as soon as possible to look after them in retirement.

As a parent who has sacrificed tremendously for my son to be able to attend UCT I fully support the reopening of the campus.

Hello, I'm from Denmark and I'm here to do a 'Study Semester Abroad' at UCT! I cannot finish my last master's semester and get my credits transferred to my home university, if we don't resume classes. I have paid a lot of money to come and study here but now I cannot graduate and I have to go home if the demonstrations continue! :(

There are some real problems here that have legitimate cause for protest, however the general desire for better South African education cannot be realised by crippling the education system further. Let education resume, for the sake of future generations of young South Africans.

Change is only possible if the institutions are functioning. Stopping now won't mean abandoning the cause, just giving the government time to think about how this change can be made
