To all our loyal clients,
I wanted to take today and tell you how much we at Georgia Louise have missed seeing you these past months as the lockdown has continued. I also have a very important request for your help.
You may have already heard the news that Governor Cuomo has announced that he will not allow businesses like ours that offer facial and skin care services to reopen during phase 4 in New York as he had previously indicated.
Today, I’m asking that you join me and my fellow business owners in supporting a petition to Governor Cuomo to reconsider this decision to continue shuttering our businesses and our livelihoods and to allow us to reopen as planned.
This is not something I ask lightly but instead after much reflection and planning.
At Georgia Louise and other facial and skin care businesses, across the city, our business models allow us to far better protect both our clients and our employees than other businesses which have already been allowed to re-open.
We do not have huge amounts of customers going in and out. We do not have people lingering and congregating together, which would encourage viral spread.
What we have is the ability to bring each and every one of our clients in individually to areas which are separated from others. We will take the temperatures of employees prior to their shift to ensure your safety.
We will take your temperature at the door to ensure our safety. We also have protective PPE and face shields that allow us to safely conduct facial and skin care services according to state law.
There is truly no reason why our businesses should be forced to remain closed – a move that could mean the end for many of us.
That is why, I have drafted a letter to Governor Cuomo asking that he reconsider and allow us to safely reopen in phase 4. Now, I ask that you sign the attached petition so that he can see that we all – businesses and clients like you who make it all worthwhile – stand together in making this request.
Sincerely,
Georgia

The silence from the governor's office is draining but we are gaining ground toward one thousand signatures. We need to reach that mark before another day passes without a clear answer about our future.

I’ve been a practicing esthetician for more than 35 years. Sanitation and disinfecting has always been a part of what we do. We know how to proceed with caution. Our skin care rooms are safer than going to the market. Why can a dental hygienist work and we can’t?
We need this to be addressed this month. It’s been 4 months of lost wages, as well as taxes we pay to NYS when we perform services such as facials. We are professionals too and follow all guidelines to protect ourselves and clients.
I have always had the greatest experience and felt the spa was incredibly clean and a safe environment to the highest of standards. It would be further detrimental to the livelihood of us as customers who depend on these treatments for medical purposes
Please reconsider allowing facials to be performed. I understand why you may feel it’s risky, but if dental procedures can be performed, so should facials procedures. State Board requires ESTHETICIANS to have medical standards for disinfection procedures.
I have purchased acrylic shields to be placed between the client and esthetician when giving a facial. It is no different then having my teeth cleaned by a hygienist. Please allow esthetician’s to go back to work safely like other similar professions have in like industries.
Governor Gavin Newsom also needs to be included, for his misinformed judgment and discrimination against nail salons! He purposefully allowed Hair Salons to open before Nail Salons without any indication of when Nail Salons would be allowed to open initially.
A wonderful salon, (business), cares for their clients in so many ways. So well deserved...

I work as a healthcare provider and realize the severity of the situation we are currently in. However, having been a frequent customer I feel as though an establishment such as Georgia Louise is able to safely work on customers while abiding to appropriate precautions required.
