We must persuade the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors--namely District 5 Supervisor Lynda Hopkins--to finally get moving!

I am a Sea Ranch resident and this beach is closed because nothings been done to fix The staircase. A lot of tax money comes from Sea Ranch to Sonoma county but apparently it’s not coming back to fix things that we were forced to lose as our beaches.
Seems nonsensical that access to this popular beach is still closed when there appears to be a relatively easy and inexpensive solution. This beach is not just for Sea Ranchers- it was open to the public before this protracted closure.
Frankly, the issue extends to include the public access stairs to Black Point Beach also; those stairs are fast deteriorating and not far from being unsafe. In the rush to expand SoCo parks, let’s not overlook the need to maintain what we already have.
It’s a shame that a county that has so much to offer and typically visionary has not maintained the Stengel Beach stairs preventing coastal access on this primo stretch of California coastline. Access has been at the core of the arguments to protect the coast from development to focus on conservation and recreation. Stengel Beach needs to reopen.
This beautiful beach has been closed too long and should be reopened ASAP. It also is a safety issue, because visitors are scaling the steep walls to gain access.
Please reopen access to Stengel Beach
People are walking down the cliffs because the stairwell is still out. This closure is causing greater risks to the public.

Presently there are two loose boards on the Stengel beach steps. Repairing them with brackets would take 20 minutes. People are using the steps anyway and climbing down the hillside. Simple CB problem to fix, high probability someone will be injured as inaction drags on.
