THe school seems to have lost site of the original purpose of Brentwood Green. Hopefully this petition will help it to remember That it is for all of us to enjoy.

Why are we allowed to use this area only on week-ends?

weekends and holidays! Not just a few hours during the farmers market. Partnership. I'm sure the community that came together to help create this partnership can help resolve what ever concerns are keeping the gates locked.

We'd love to see this space returned to the community -- and an official effort made to pick up litter on a regular basis as well as educate folks about not littering there.

I understand why for safety reasosn the park can not be open to the public weekdays after school but would like to see it open and in use for the community on weekends and holidays.

Thank you so much for bringing up the importance of the safety and wellbeing of the students. Although the purpose of the petition on a group level was to solely to gain attention and join our citizens together, I personally agree with you that the safety of all children using the space is the number one priority. This is a much needed dialogue and if we join together as a community we can be a voice that will be heard. What is so amazing about this project was that it made Brentwood Science magnet a safer, more beautiful and enjoyable space for the students AND the community!

Before the school withdrew community access, Brentwood Green was an outstanding example of a school-neighborhood partnership. Neighborhood families such as ours first learned about Brentwood Science Magnet through being able to use its grounds as a park on weekends, and we went on to send our children to the school. Particularly during the current period of declining school enrollment, it would be of such great benefit to everyone if Brentwood Science Magnet could revitalize its relationship with the community, and restore the promised neighborhood access to Brentwood Green.

This is a wonderful park in the heart of Brentwood for kids and families to play. Please reopen it to the public on the weekends!

First of all, the school is not 'out' after school. The school has an after-school program for students of Brentwood Science. Therefore, school is technically still in session. The same reason why the public is not allowed on the premises during school hours (for safety) is the same reason the public should not be allowed during the hours of the after-school program. Secondly, if the property was open to the public during the hours when the after-school program is in session, it's a huge liability to the school. I can't imagine a single parent would want strangers roaming the school grounds when school (and after school) is in session.

There is never enough green space in a city for the kids. It seems ridiculous to not open up this park.

Please return this desperately needed open space to the community that made it happen in the first place.

We would love to have the park open when school is not on. More green space, made accessible to all would certainly be an asset to everyone in our community. Can it be made safe and kept clean, especially at night?

Our kids are teenagers now but when they were little we used to take them there to the school to play all the time. Please open the park for all the little kids that love to play there. I remember the fundraising effort and the actual opening celebration. Our community made this happen. Please don't lock us out.

The park is an asset of the community and was created by the community; it is unreasonable that the community is locked out of the park,
