By signing this petition you are showing your support for Warwick Boys Lacrosse High School Coaches Gary Minnich and Chris Schmehl and indicating your displeasure with the unjust and poorly documented decision by the Athletic Department of the Warwick School District, with support of the Warwick School Administration, to not renew Coach Minnich and Coach Schmehl’s coaching contract for the calendar year 2012 and 2013. We ask the Warwick School Board to overturn the decision of the Athletic Director and School Administration. The Athletic Director’s arbitrary decision to not renew the coaching contracts was poorly documented with no basis on current written policy nor previous protocol. The decision has directly impacted the Boys’ Lacrosse High School and Club programs and, arguably, the entire athletic program for the Warwick School District in a very negative way that does not take into account the welfare of all players and parents current, past, and future. We ask that the Board considers the positive impact the Boys’ Lacrosse Program has had on players and the opportunities that have developed through the hard work of the players, coaches, and families that have afforded a higher percentage of players being offered scholarships at colleges throughout the region as compared to most other school sports programs. Much of this success has been directly linked to the incredible support of Coaches Minnich and Schmehl.
