A 3 month renewal of federal unemployment insurance came within one vote of the 60 needed to overcome a Republican filibuster on February 6, 2014.

There are 1.7 million long-term unemployed job-seekers and congress is taking their time on getting this renewal through. Please sign our petition to persuade Republican senators to renew Unemployment Insurance. Among the thirty-nine Republicans voting to block the benefits renewal were Senators Mark Kirk of Illinois, Rob Portman of Ohio and Dan Coats of Indiana, all of whom had previously indicated a measure of support for renewing the benefits and who went back on their word the day of voting.

Our plan is to gather as many signatures as we can and send this signed petition to Senators Cory Booker and Harry Reid. Do not let Congress take advantage of our inability to march in protest in Washington and shout what we want through this petition.
