As referenced in the Sandusky Scandal and detailed in the Freeh report former PSU football coach, Joe Paterno played and active role in failing to report and concealing sexual abuse of children by Jerry Sandusky. He was clearly more interested in protecting PSU and his football program than he was protecting innocent victims. His statue outside Beaver Stadium should not be allowed to stand any longer for it is a constant reminder of how the welfare of innocent children was swept aside in the pursuit of football wins, coaching records, and financial windfalls for both himself and the PSU. By signing this petition you are requesting the the PSU Board of Trustees acts swiftly and correctly and removes the Joe Paterno statue from Beaver Stadium so that Paterno's failure to act will no longer be glorified and immortalized for years to come.
The reach of this petition has shifted the conversation with the Board of Trustees. I have requested a formal meeting to present these findings and expect a response regarding their review process by the end of the week.
