This family agrees with Madeline Veldstra's request for the Homer library to require separate placement and parental consent for these particular books. When it comes to the early sexualization, grooming, and promotion of pedophilia as normal we say HANDS OFF the children.

As a retired elementary teacher I absolute do not condone the drag queen and LGBTQ books in our local library! As a grandmom of 5 this disturbs me greatly.

A children’s story that depicts heterosexual relationships (of which there are countless) is not “indoctrinating.” It’s merely telling a story. The characters just so happen to be heterosexual and gender binary. It is patently absurd to suggest that when the Princess marries the Prince (or whatever the case may be) that “heterosexual, gender binary ideology indoctrination” has occurred. It is patently absurd to suggest that any “indoctrination” has occurred when LGBTQ+ characters are depicted in a children’s book. This statement in the petition is inherently devoid of logic and an entirely incorrect premise: “…books which are intended to indoctrinate children in LGBTQ+ ideologies…” There is no heterosexual/gender binary “ideology.” There is no LGBTQ+ “ideology.” This is like saying there is a blonde hair “ideology,” or a hazel eyes “ideology.” A patently ludicrous attribution of “ideology” to genetic human traits. The inanity of the statement multiplies when, already built upon an entirely false premise, it goes on to assert that the books in question “are intended to indoctrinate.”

I do not object to this literature being in the library. I object to it being mixed into other book sections, especially youth sections) since we have the right to be aware of this content being present (since it is usually not clearly identified) and have the ability to choose if we want to read, or we want our children to read, this kind of material.

This should be up to the parents!!!

I absolutely agree to remove these books. This is not appropriate for a children's section of the library. Please remove or make a separate section.

We, the undersigned residents and parents of Homer and surrounding areas, do hereby petition that the Homer Public Library remove all books promoting [ignorance, hate, intolerance] and all other books which are intended to indoctrinate children in [bigoted] ideologies from the children’s and juvenile sections of the library. If the library must have them, we petition that a section outside of the children’s area be designated for such books so that parents who do not wish for their children to stumble across these confusing ideas may allow their children to browse freely. Fixed that for you.

I agree! But i would like to also add, please also ban all Harry Potter books! He is weak with his COMPASSION, and LOVE. Oh, those books about hobbits can go too. Don't want kids to get the idea they can run around barefoot and be friends with wizards. HATRED MUST PREVAIL!!! ALL HAIL THE DARK LORD!!!
