Keep the cross lit! This is a community tradition that goes back generations. My grandfather Rueben Joel Moffett lost his life working for Climax. He shared viewing the cross with his sons, all of which worked for Climax. Our tradition at Christmas was to drive up to Climax, view the cross and say a prayer for all those who risked lives and worked underground. My Uncle Howard Tritz repaired that cross so others could share a multi-generational tradition. Let the cross shine!

In honor of my dad and my uncle Louie Martinez.. I think it would be remarkable if they lit that cross and the cross my dad made for my uncle where his accident occurred..

Please keep the cross lit. My Dad retired from climax. To me it's a symbol of the blood and sweat that all of hard working people gave to support their families. Thanks Jack Walker

What ashame, for so many years it has never been a problem, why now. It's ok if not everybody agrees with something. The downfall to our country.

As a proud "SNOWFLAKE" this cross is like a lighthouse to me. Ever since I was little I'd look for it, when I'd see it I knew we were close to home. It also has a special meaning for the miners. How can it be that offensive to anyone? Sometimes you have to pick your battles!!!!! This cross means so much to alot of us. #lightthecross #itmeanshome #proudsnowflake #lightthewaytoleadville

The lighted cross meant so much to we Leadvillites traveling home from the big city during winter travel. It was a beacon of hope that home was close. Please re-consider your decision and keep it lit.

For me, it is more of a memorial cross for all of the lives lost in that mine. But that is just my opinion. I would like to see it stay.
