They actually listened and reinstated the age splits which feels honestly surreal right now. I am looking at all 277 of you and just feeling plain stunned that we pulled this off because staying focused on the riders was the only way forward. We should definitely keep an eye on …

Amateurs and Youth riders are the support system of our industry and our Region!!! We can not cut them out of the opportunity to show their horse fairly and safely. We ask that you sign this petition to reinstate JOTR and AOTR age divisions at this years Region 12 Championship Horse Show.

I just refreshed the page and saw two hundred fifty signatures which honestly feels kind of surreal because I was worried nobody else cared about these age splits. It is honestly wild how fast this is moving and I am sitting here in my barn gear totally stunned while my horses look at me like I am crazy.

I am so very disappointed to see how the age splits have changed. My 17 year old daughter rides side saddle and the only class offered at region 12 is OPEN!! She has no chance to be fairly judged and she won youth national champion in this division in 2015!!

There has always been a division between ages for a reason. The most important being, the ring experience the older riders have. We cannot expect young junior riders to have the competence, confidence and the ring savvy of older riders. Out of fairness to all, please keep age splits. Thank you.

I will be showing at Region 12... The kids should have their own age groups. They should not have to compete against adults. This can be both damaging to their success and dangerous for less experienced kids. Not all our youth have grown up riding horses...Please reconsider this decision...

I'm an AHA member planning to compete this year as AOTH and AOTR and I don't feel combining the Jr/youth with Adults is fair to either. And if you're going to have SE classes then they should qualify you for something or don't have them at all and YES I have SE horses.

The variety and number of Amateur and Junior rider classes offered are critical factors in deciding which regional shows to attend. Region 12 does itself a huge disservice with this decision to forgo AO and JO age divisions. Please reconsider! I'll be spending my showing budget elsewhere for sure if this stands.

I have a horse in training and will be showing in Region 12 for the first time in almost 10 years. Starting over at 60 I was looking forward showing against folks my own age. I guess I will look at 14 instead.

Age splits are offered at the National Level with a purpose to encourage people that they will be showing with people of the same capabilities for the age of their body to compete on a level playing field. None of us are looking for an easy win with less entries. We would love to see bigger classes with people in our age group.
