I don't know what the reasons for stopping the on site auditions in africa are. but this is something that deeply saddens me. The representation of African musicians is already shockingly low to me, considering the kind of talent out there. The most influential and awe inspiring musicians I have known in my life have all been from Africa. To deny the school and Berklee community of the wealth and diversity of music styles coming out of africa is to stifle music education. This deprives some of the well deserving musicians in the world the opportunity to study and further their music careers, It is unfair that young musicians in Africa also least ability to travel to other onsite auditions, due to the difficultly getting visa restrictions as well economic inequality. Please reconsider.

I hate signing these things but this is SO important to me. African musicians at Berklee have deeply and profoundly affected my life. Beyond that, Berklee's as a non-profit needs to focusing on quality musicianship rather than building an empire. The music of Africa is essential in everything and thus every African should have ample opportunity, not just the rich few.

I met a great friend of mine here at Berklee who is from Africa and did the African on-site Auditions. If it weren't for on-site Auditions I would have never met my friend who has opened doors for me and exposed me to African music and culture.
