Hi all...I just checked the auditions list and Nairobi is back on for live auditions March 8th, 2014. Cape Town is still off the list, though.

please keep us posted -- and keep the pressure on! Is it just an issue of cutting back to save money, or what? seems incredible to me not to stage auditions in a place where 1) people can least afford to go far to audition; and 2) some of the richest musical talent in the world resides! thanks for your efforts Berklee students!

so much talent here in South Africa, for starters -- not to mention the rest of the continent. not having auditions here deprives not only students but actually Berklee itself...

as a Berklee alumnus, and as someone who's music and life have been heavily influenced by African people and culture, I find this a most regrettable decision on the part of the school. Especially considering that much of the material taught at Berklee has roots in African traditions. i hope they will walk the walk and keep that connection alive. students applying from Africa already have an uphill battle to fight. please don't make it even harder for them.

I am disgusted that Berklee would limit audition opportunities in a part of our world that needs these opportunities for young people most! Closing this door would limit the likelihood of more musicians encountering Berklee outright, and limiting musicians potential that Berklee helps to seed through their diverse education. The odds are already hard enough for african students- don't make it even more impossible!

Being half American, I have been blessed with the opportunity to visit my OTHER home town--Boston--and do my audition. However, there are so many talented musicians in Cape Town and not to mention the rest of Africa. African people give a whole different interpretation of music and are an essential to making a community of diversity, which is what I'm pretty sure every university/college is looking for.

african music is an amazing culture that would be very beneficial to the rest of the berklee population and its definitely not easy to go to a different COUNTRY to audition for school

Let's make sure that this wonderful opporunity gets to every corner of the world. We dont want to lose the sound of feet pounding the ground which becomes the rhythm of the music whose notes are in turn transformed into dance steps.Let the opportunity be equal.
