Hi there Residents and Landlords of The Works Apartments,
As you are probably well aware the night club down stairs under the apartment building wants to extend their opening hours until 7.00am in the morning. Right now their hours are until 5.30am. I am not sure it came to be that a night club managed to get such late trading hours especially since they are situated right under a residential block. There have been countless issues since the clubs popularity has increased over the years - and its time we take a stand!
We have a hearing with the night club owners on the 28th March 2017 at the city council at 10.00am. Some of you are already attending - but for those of you that are out of town and cant share your concerns in person - please sign the partition voicing any and all concerns you have.
You are welcome to just sign the partition saying yes or no - but if you have any reasons why you have voted yes or no - please share those as well.
I know my main reasons for wanting to reduce the trading hours have to do with noice, nuisance, safety of the residence as well as the value my property being heavily impacted having a night club operating right under the building.

I am in full support of preventing the night club below The Works apartments from extending their trading hours. Secondly, I feel that a 05:30 am licence below residential units is obsurd and I would also support a reduction in the current trading hours. A complete removal of the night club would be the overall preferred option.
This is an ongoing problem, which I have on several occasions reported myself. As a result the council have visited the property and conducted their investigations, in which they discovered the sound volumes were in fact very high. In order to resolve the issue the Council did warn and also set the sound limit that would be reasonable. However it is lucid that this friendly warning has been completely ignored. As a legal advocate and a resident of The Works, I have in depth knowledge of compliance to a particular license and can certainly identify when there is a nuisance. This ongoing nuisance is affecting both my personal and professional life. I respectfully request and urge the council to use their delegated powers and eradicate this problem, either by reducing the current operating hours until 10pm or by revoking the license in its entirety. I hope that the Council will resolve this issue as a matter of urgency. If this is not done then i will be compelled to issue court proceedings not only against The Lounge but also against the Council for failing in their duties. I trust that I will not need to go this far. If proceedings are issued when they could have been avoided, I will bring this signed petition to the attention of the courts.
The club already operates to 5.30 a.m already, there is no need to extend, for who's benefit would this be? The club should not be permitted to base itself here, let alone extend further.
Residents experience threatening behaviour from patrons of the club who in some instances have forced entry to the lobby. This is a shared development, if hours of the club are extended it simply is then hugely biased towards the need of the club and not the council tax paying residents.

I'm certain the nightclub owners and their families would not appreciate extended disturbances and nightly.

Residents are already feeling intimidated by the existing hours with patrons of the club in some cases forcing entry to the lobby in the apartment block and creating a nuisance sonetines leading to threatening behaviour.
