Much needed speed limit enforcement. My dog and I were almost hit by a speeding motorist near Plaistow village store.

Any help with the reduction of vehicle speed within the named areas is most necessary. It is to be hoped that an occasional police presence could ensure enforcement?

There's no doubt that the current speed limit of 40mph is being ignored by many drivers, especially at commute time. I do hope that a reduction in the speed limit will make it safer to walk and to cycle here.

I think that measures need to be taken so that drivers are aware that this is a residential area. It's not obvious because there's no footpath and also most of the houses are behind tall hedges.

I support this petition for two reasons 1) safety there are so many near misses on rural roads as you literally don't know what is round the next bend! 2)Also our quintessential English villages deserve to be treasured for the benefit of residents and visitors.

I support the speed limit reduction from 40MPH to 30MPH. Following the comments of others in Loxwood Rd/Plaistow Rd who find it difficult pulling out of their drives, I suggest that signs be installed along the road saying "slow please, concealed entrances" or "slow, pedestrians in the road" as this may help drivers to understand why a lower speed is appropriate.

Do hope speed limits are extended but, more importantly, more effort is needed by those in authority, to actually police these exetnsions and those already insitu!

Would be great if we could take it lower - to 20mph - like Brighton.

We are on one of the bends in Plaistow Road with a poor vision line to the right (west) as we exit our drive. Patience and an element of "crossing fingers" is required.
But how will a lower speed limit be controlled?
Nevertheless it is now needed.

I regularly walk along this road and as there is no provision for pedestrians (footpath), the speed limit of 40 mph is much to fast, it must be reduced before there is an accident (involving pedestrians) with people saying "if only"..

Trying to pull out from our drive into Plaistow Road when cars are going 40mph or more is very dangerous. Also walking to the post box is a very unsafe experience when cars are driving in excess of 30mpg. Establishing a 30mpg speed limit is respectful and in keeping with a residential country setting.

this must be done, the cars come at high speed around the bend here and pulling out of our driveway is dangerous

As someone guilty of driving too fast on occasions, I know it will help me to drive more safely if the speed limit is lowered.

We live on Rickmans Lane but unfortunately the present limit is never monitored nor enforced and many motorists don't consider or even attempt to obey the limit

I fully support the reduction to 30mph but would like it to be enforced. So many people drive far too quickly through the villages, knowing there are walkers, riders and cyclists.

When one considers the bends in the roads, the number of properties and the unfortunate fact that this road is now a ‘rat-run’, a reduction in the speed limit AND an enforcement of that limit is essential.

I agree that the speed limits should be reduced but also extended beyond the houses on Shillinglee Lane. Sadly, quite a few of the cars that drive past, at excess speeds, as we walk along the road are being driven by local residents. Possibly a bit of speed enforcement wouldn't go amiss and would also highlight the speed that some people actually drive at.

I think the 30mph limit is a very good idea as it is quite dangerous pulling out of Chalk Road and Ifoldhurst, even when they are only doing 40 mph, which few vehicles are!!
