Above - One Man and his Horse
This petition has been set up by a Southport resident who believes that Southport would benefit from a Ginger and Red Rum memorial. The names, Aintree, Grand National, Red Rum and McCain are what helped put Southport on the map in the 70s. With young Donald McCain now making his name number 1 in the racing game, now would be a good time to have a Red Rum memorial, with visitors flocking to Cheshire to visit the 2011 Grand National winners Ballabriggs and The McCain’s - how many would travel a few miles to Southport to see where it all began many years ago? And have a day out at the seaside! Thank You for your support it is much appreciated x

I honestly never thought this many people cared about Red Rum like I do but looking at these names makes me feel like we are actually onto something big. It is wild to think that a simple idea about a bronze horse could get people this excited because honestly I just wanted to see those memories honored where they deserve to be.
