This petition has been set up by a Southport resident who believes that Southport would benefit from a Ginger and Red Rum memorial. The names, Aintree, Grand National, Red Rum and McCain are what helped put Southport on the map in the 70s. With young Donald McCain now making his name number 1 in the racing game, now would be a good time to have a Red Rum memorial, with visitors flocking to Cheshire to visit the 2011 Grand National winners Ballabriggs and The McCain’s - how many would travel a few miles to Southport to see where it all began many years ago?
