Recycling for Mississippi State University Athletics Facilities, Locker Rooms, and Training Rooms
We, the athletic body, implore the Athletic committee to have maintenance place recycling bins for plastics in our athletic locker rooms and training rooms. As of right now, we throw away all our plastic propel bottles and more leading to incredible waste. By having an option inside our facilities, we will have easier access to be able to recycle correctly. Mississippi State is ranked last in the SEC in recycling and we as the athletic body want to be the beginning steps in one day being a zero-waste campus. As athletes we are told to be role models and see this as a great way to be a role model to the campus in a new way. This can be a learning experience for all of athletics to work on changing the world. We write this in hopes that each facility can have a recycling bin in their locker room and in the training room where the most plastic is thrown away.

The athletic department has been silent on our request for bins in the locker rooms so we need to turn up the pressure. Post this link on your Facebook page and text three teammates today to ensure they sign. We need to show the administration that this is a priority for every athlete on campus.

The administration is finally starting to pay attention to our request because of the momentum you built in the locker rooms. Keep the pressure on by emailing the Athletic Department directors today to demand these bins are installed.

GO DAWGS! We need to step it up and stop being last in the SEC for this. It is such a simple fix for the facilities.
The cost of money in the short term is nothing compared to the long term cost if we don’t start recycling. :)

It is honestly ridiculous how many bottles we toss out after practice everyday. Just put a bin in there so we can actually do the right thing.
