the carribean carnival belongs in mosside where generations of families have enjoyed the community getting together as one to celabrate its history.I have been going to carnival since i was a teenager and have taken my children year after year to enjoy the parades, the music ,experiencing the culture of the local communities..alex park was the place where our families and friends would get to meet up every year, different generations coming together as one.since the carnival has been moved to plattfields i refuse to go,because carnival belongs in the heart of Mosside...

The Friends of Alexander Park are in a nutshell connected to Whalley Range Forum who got this ball rolling in the first place. Fixing up the Park in the first place was a good idea as the Council had abandoned it a long time ago but Who would have thought their reasons was a 'Coup de Gras' towards ridding Alexander Park of The Caribbean Carnival. They have succeeded in two years, what the Manchester City Council couldn't do in ten. Now we have Secretary Darren who has proclaimed Alexander Park was originally purchased in 1868 for only Whalley Range; which is a is a lie. They have purposely excluded all the other communities from the meeting. This has allowed the corruption of historical facts; to manifest and be rewritten in order to gain money for the up keep of birds, flowers, joggers, dog walkers, the pond, the Island and repairs which they have support. Then there is Lodge; Whalley Range has had rebuilt in their name; originally was built for the general public especially working men. History is the the key People. Stop talking about it and become as creative. Stop waiting to be invited into their meeting for scraps of Committee Meetings as you will be disappointed and dismissed. Aim your petition HIGHER towards creating an alternative Carnival, go back to the beginning when Moss Side's immigrant population was excluded from May Day Parades and other events. Have a Carnival outside the Park and in the Streets until entry is regained...NO MORE EXCUSES. Yes I still remember the battles our Elders went through; we had BELLVUE AND CARNIVAL to look forward too. Memories. The Council ripped out Bellvue, fair ground broken up, animals died and the area was never the same. Moss Side Carnival is based on inclusion of every nationality that makes up the Caribbean Islands and our colors are multiple. Darren believes that Google will not have any' traces of local beliefs' and or history of Alexander Parks direct connections with Moss Side and its Carnival, he is s

Carnival has been an uplifting event for moss side and its residents for more years than I care to remember. As a child I loved the atmosphere and I now take my own children. It was made so enjoyable by the local community , a community that has put many years of hard work into the celebration of its heritage, shame on the powers that be for taking that away from them.

The Caribbean Carnival should be held in Alexandra Park in Moss Side. I'm tired of the politricks and the so-called people who say they represent the community. I say we elect new councillors who will take our views seriously.
