We are parents that are concerned that our 4, 5 and 6 graders are not getting recess. These kids are in school from 8:30-3:30 without any proper time or place to run and play. I have been told by teachers that these kids have so much energy while in class that they have a hard time focusing on thier schoolwork. They are young and some time to run off some of that energy. I believe the time teachers use up dealing with fidgity children could easily be traded for recess time. Recess is also the time for kids to learn how to interact with other children. Learning social skills is important for growing children. Making friends, and having time to talk/play with them would surely make kids feel better about thier school day. Point is: GIVE THEM THIER RECESS! THIER ONLY KIDS ONCE, LET THEM ENJOY IT! THEY HAVE THE REST OF THIER LIFE TO WORK
