For nearly 300 years the Greyhound pub was a well-known and attractive landmark welcoming people to Sydenham. Today this half-demolished building is a blight on our high street and is preventing new investment in the area. After seven years it's time now to say to our council and Lewisham's Mayor:
We are approaching 500 signatures and need to hit that mark before our meeting with the council planning board. Take thirty seconds right now to text this link to three people who live in Sydenham. Post the petition to your Facebook page today so we can keep this momentum going.

The Greyhound remains a ruin while the council ignores our requests for a timeline on rebuilding. Post this link on your Facebook page and email the Mayor directly to demand he forces the developer to finish the job.

I no longer live in sydenham but worked in the pub for taylor walker back in the late 80's early 90's. I revisited the pub a few years ago and was saddened by it's demise. I wish you well on your campaign to bring it back to it's former glory.

As a Sydenham dweller, I've been delighted by the renovation work that's been done on our high street - and horrified that the shell of the Greyhound is allowed to blight this when it could be the heart of our community.

It is truly disgusting that the developers of the pub have been allowed to destroy a piece of Sydenham's history and they have not been punished for the wanton destruction and greed of a fantastic local landmark. It is time our pub is re built to its original specifications.

How does this keep happening to local pubs? If it keeps going there'll be nowhere left for local people to meet. It's sad it got so far before it was listed - and that this is the only way to save it - but it's time to turn it back to a space for people to enjoy.

I spent many hours/years sitting on the greyhounds at the front of the pub. Everytime my brother and I went shopping with our mum, would run to be the first one to sit on them. Have pics to prove it. Such happy memories. Please rebuild - its part of Sydenham.

To leave this well-known landmark pub and much loved community asset in a half-demolished state in the middle of our community is an act of public vandalism of the highest order. All those involved should be held to account
