A signature on this petition reaffirms your belief that the University should maintain its own dispatch center. The two biggest reasons being officer safety and service quality to the University community.
JCPD is a mistake for UOPD dispatching. Our officers, friends, coworkers, and the community we serve are not safer since we switched to JCPD February 1st. All of our safety is being jeopardized by this dispatch decision. The only correct answer is to rebuild CERC and make it a PSAP.

Our dispatch center was created because the University entrusted UOPD to provide exemplary service to its students, staff and faculty. Our service is particular and handles more than police calls, we are a customer service center as well. We handle police calls, dispatch for our officers that serve our area. We have the ability to hire, train and maintain excellent communications officers that know the campus, it’s needs and can provide the level of service expected by this community. Our people are invested in the community we serve! Keep CERC

Continuing the path of having JCPD dispatch for our campus community will greatly negatively affect our ability to serve our community in an accurate and timely manner.

This dispatch change has become a significant Officer Safety Issue for our Employee’s, a significant service quality issue for the University Community, and is likely to create morale and retention issues at a greater rate than any other issue.

If we're to be known as a stand alone police department we need to have our own dispatch center just as every law enforcement agency in the county does. And it just makes sense.

Multiple campus members have commented to me about increased response time and its negative effects on their interactions with UOPD
