The term 'headache' is not suitable for this kind of neurological disorder. Many sufferers are dismissed and left without treatment due to the word headache being used. A cluster headache is more than a headache and the pain has been described as worse than breaking bones and child birth. Medical proffesionals are rarely aware of cluster headaches and this inturn can mean that many sufferers are mis-diagnosed and left without correct treatment. The name needs to be changed to something more suited to this condition and awareness needs to be made so that sufferers are not left in unnessacary agony!
The feedback received from the medical community confirms that the current terminology creates significant barriers to proper diagnosis. Work is currently underway to draft a formal proposal that addresses these naming inaccuracies for the relevant authorities.

The momentum behind this effort has grown beyond my initial expectations. It is clear that the need to reclassify this condition resonates with a great number of people who face the same frustrations.

Greater help and understanding is needed for people who suffer from this very very painful condition. Better medication and supportive trained medical help is needed.

I have chronic Cluster with daily attacks. The pain really is far worst than headaches, and people that suffers from this deserve a more accurate definition. At least for the clearity of the diagnosis.

my husband has these every single day and the word headache just makes people think its like a regular migraine. it is so much worse than that and the doctors around here dont even know what it is half the time.

Imagine your eye becomes sentient and tries to claw its way out of your skull while something else shoves it back in. It’s a 100/10 level of agony that strips away your humanity. You sit in the dark, laughing maniacally at the irony of being alive, praying for an end because you can’t tell where the pain starts and 'you' end anymore. It is the most lonely, pointless hell on earth....-The term headache just fuels the irony that the "Worst pain imaginable"- is recognized as a "Just drink some water"- minor ache.
