We, the postgraduate students of QMUL School of Business and Management, protest against the new way of dissertation supervision provided in the form of very limited number of group meetings and require going back to the “old system” of one-to-one meetings with the dissertation supervisor. We understand the dissertation is an integral part of our Master degree programme and we feel betrayed by the lack of the support from SBM in this regards. We believe that one-to-one meetings with supervisors are key for us during our research for dissertation and without this support we are put at a serious disadvantage. Also, dissertation is vital for those of us who choose to pursue further education, such as PhD.
In case this system is not reverted with immediate effect we intend to pursue the following actions:
- Organized student protest
- Serious downgrading of university rating and student satisfaction reviews

Seeing the momentum behind this issue proves that I am not the only one feeling abandoned by the current supervision policy. It is validating to know that so many of my peers are fighting for the one to one guidance we were promised when we enrolled.

paying these fees for group sessions that dont even cover my specific research topic is a joke. we need our 1-1 time back.
MSc Management 160045210 we are being set up to fail here and its not okay
Dissertation is important and guidance for the same is equally important as to check that we are on same track
I find 1-1 support the only possible way to receive proper support for our dissertation topic
I was enrolled in group 9 of dissertation meeting and my session got cancelled because of strike. There is no further notice for any other session in timetable which is not justified at all

The feedback I get in a group of 30 people is completely useless for my thesis. sort it out qmul.
