After five years of attending Rye Hills Academy in Redcar and Cleveland we have reached the end of year 11. Prom is on its way and it is something to look forward to. However plenty of individuals who attend the academy have had the opportunity of prom took off them. For many reasons such as; smoking on the way to school and from school, vaping, truanting and lots more. These students may of commited one of these acts but don't you think a second chance is deserved? The students have changed as many were banned at the beginning of the year, although some students who have recently been banned have already purchased their dresses and suits, the school does not take this into consideration one bit. Prom is something to look forward to after all the hard work in year 11 and know one should have the right to take the opportunity of prom off someone.

Please take this into consideration and sign our petition to get us pupils to prom!

Not really preparing these children for real life by this. Knocking their confidence down for minor mistakes? After this there into the real world, really feel for these kids :(

The school should understand the effort these young people are going to fight what they deserve. As a parent and defiantly as a school you should be very proud of these kids attitudes to the situation.

Proms should not be used as a punishment, it is a celebration of five years hard work and moving onto the next chapter.

Everyone makes mistakes. I work in education imagine if all who worked in education didn't give young people a second chance. Not only that imagine if no-one got a second chance?

I have known pupils do far worse than smoking and truanting and they are still allowed to prom. Let's get these exams out the way and let the pupils de-stress and enjoy themselves at prom.

Everyone deserves a second chance, and the final year Prom, albeit a privilege and not a given, is the students last chance to shake off their "school student" persona before going on to work or further education. Please give them a second chance
